Food Tasting for the Upcoming Wedding

Tourism Malaysia and Cebu Pacific took away the 'fiancée' for a few days for the grand opening of Legoland in Malaysia, so mom accompanied me on my first wedding food tasting experience

Food Tasting for the Upcoming Wedding

It was held in Oasis Manila with three catering services namely: Kusina ni Kambal, Purplemint and Hizon’s Catering.Food Tasting for the Upcoming Wedding

What happens on a food tasting?

We were able to meet the caterers and discuss what they have to offer - from the basic package to upgraded ones including food, package, freebies, chairs, motifs, and designs.

For a very special day like your wedding, you would always want to be at your best. The choice of food usually depends on what we like ans our favorites. Sometimes, we could also consider those that we don’t eat as often for they could turn out to be others’ favorite food.

Food Tasting for the Upcoming Wedding

At first, I thought I wouldn't be having a problem choosing a caterer since I booked Oasis which has several accredited caterers. Experience wise, I was happy with the three caterers and excited to meet the rest.

Now, let me share to you few bites of what we had that day. First, we had the Kusina Ni Kambal catering.

I loved the fresh vegetable spring roll. Add to that the roast beef with mushroom gravy being tender and fine. The roast pork loin with pineapple glaze is quite interesting too; I just wish it will be a bit more tender.

Purplemint Catering

Purplemint Catering showed us some photos from their previous events which I found elegant and beautiful. Their menu and presentation leans towards the modern taste. Moreover, I was surprised with the beverage they served us - a Lemongrass Cooler which was good and refreshing.

The appetizer series started with some tasty adobo flakes with tomato salsa canapé and fresh garden salad with honey mustard dressing.

The rest of the menu consisted of Vigan Pasta, Hawaiian pork barbeque ribs, chicken cordon bleu with duo mushroom sauce, baked fish fillet with tomato-olive-caper tapenade and braised bokchoi with straw mushrooms in oyster sauce.

For dessert, a rich and delicious green tea panna cotta was served.

Hizon’s Catering

Hizon’s Catering served us some fettuccine with Carbonara sauce, rosemary roast chicken with root vegetables and pan gravy, vegetable with peanut sauce, and fish fillet.

Peach egg tart and mango vanilla panacotta was our dessert.

Food Tasting Tips

Choosing your caterer and menu could be stressful. But in reality, it's not. It’s one of the most relaxing activities of wedding planning.

During the food tasting, they will ask you to complete a form but it doesn’t mean you already signed the contract or committed to them.

When possible try out at least three caterers and compare each one of them.

Ask your friends and family too, they might have tried those in the past and can give you advise.

Compare the cost, the food as well as its presentation and package before deciding.

If possible, both the groom and bride should attend to the wedding tasting as well.

We were pretty happy with all the food tasting activities we had for the upcoming wedding, I was torn between PurpleMint and Hizon’s. Guess who we are going to pick soon! Smile
